OUR STORY

In 1980, Al Schneider saw a need for expert transmission repair in the St. Croix Valley town of Lakeland, MN.  So began Al’s Automatic Transmission. Over the years, Al’s expanded their services to many other areas of auto repair.

Over the next 3 decades, Al and his team of mechanics earned a reputation in the community for their honesty and hard work.

Al’s son Jay, a life long resident of Lakeland, started working at the shop in the summers by getting parts, cleaning tools, and sweeping floors.

Coming into the business full time in 1990, after getting a degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth, Jay now owns and operates Al's Automatic Transmission and Auto Repair.

He brings over 35-years' worth of experience and dedication to the industry.  Jay and his team take pride in continuing the foundation laid down by Al by offering skilled, honest and professional care to every job.

In his spare time, Jay enjoys riding and racing road bikes and mountain bikes. He is also very involved with helping build and maintain mountain bike trails in the local area.
